According to subscription-only mergers and acquisitions site The Deal (and reported by mainjustice.com), the Department of Justice is “unenthused” about continuing the investigation into the TM-LN merger, so after about a year of work, they look prepared to give their thumbs-up to the merger.
The only thing that surprises me about this is how long it took. I take it back. It doesn’t really surprise me that they spent a few extra months beyond the initially advertised amount of time, as that gives politicians a little bit of cover to say they dug deeper, asked tough questions and such.
So that’s the news, folks. Thoughts to follow sometime.
UPDATE: Or maybe not…honestly, this has to be the most attention a merger of this (small) size has ever gotten from the DOJ. It goes to show you how important live entertainment really is to people.
