Mike Kuchwara was the drama critic for the AP. He covered Broadway for years and years, and he was one of the nicest guys around. Talking to him was like talking to a Broadway encyclopedia with charm. I last saw him a few weeks ago, where we chatted over dinner and he gave me the low-down on the Broadway season. As always, he was throwing around names of actors, directors and producers that quickly exceeded my knowledge, but talking to him was always still a pleasure. He loved the theatre and wore it on his sleeve.
The dimming of Broadway lights later this week in his honor seems only appropriate because Broadway has lost one its its true supporters.
Requiescat in Pace, Mike.
