Is Broadway a Live 2.0 Industry?

This video attempts to answer that question:

Slightly more seriously, I think Broadway COULD be a beacon of Live 2.0 success, but has been made too comfortable by indiscriminate tourist dollars and pandering endlessly to Baby Boomer Nostalgia.

It needs a sharper edge and a stronger sense of urgency about competing for its living.  Now, Broadway’s sense of competition is internal:  who’s getting the jobs, reviews and access to the houses.  That’s good enough if you’re a monopoly with a success guarantee.

If 2008 taught us anything, I think it’s this:  nobody has a success guarantee.
