Grateful Dead Touring Again (but not because of money)

So the Grateful Dead somehow magically resolved their personal differences and are going to tour again.  Or as drummer Mickey Hart said:

“We were able to let some of these skeletons in our closet just fall away.”

It’s easier to perform with a bunch of guys you don’t really like that much anymore when in compensation you get a whole bunch of money.

Or as Dr. Nick Riviera said, “…and the most rewarding part was when they gave me the money.”

To be fair though, the Dead have always been about the road.  In a way, given their special investment in nurturing their in-person fan base pre-internet, in high-quality speakers and everything else, I think they’ve made their bones as road warriors and therefore shouldn’t be mocked by the likes of me.

Unlike, say, The Police, whose contempt for each other, I’m told, you could feel from the balcony when they toured last year.
