If you’ve been anticipating Edition 6, anticipate not much longer.
We’re just days away from the publication of the sixth monthly Edition of Live 2.0, and it’s got some great stuff in it! The theme is Audience. We’re going to explore that from a variety of angles, but the goal of the edition is to bring you some interesting and different perspectives on cultivating a strong audience.
That, in my opinion, is the primary goal of any arts and entertainment organization. If you’re not cultivating a strong audience, you’re really still in the garage. You’re a start-up, a concept, somebody who is performing more or less for your own enjoyment, but not a mature performing or entertaining organization.
Now, that’s not to say that if you have a small, strong audience you’re not doing a good job. Quite the contrary. I’d rather have 500 passionately loyal fans than 10,000 people who sorta know me and maybe came to a show or game once. You can build your organization on the rock of 500 powerful fans, but you can’t build it on the shifting sands of a large, unfocused group of people who kinda like you.
Can’t be done.
So in this Edition, you’re going to hear from some very interesting folks including the Wall Street Journal’s Terry Teachout, Variety critic Mark Blankenship, highly successful live entertainment marketing guru Trevor O’Donnell and Goldstar’s own Missy Yoshitomi, who manages our LA market. I might even have a word or two as well.
So stay tuned! Edition 6 is on the way!
